Interview 3 C approach
WHY DO MOST PEOPLE FAIL INTERVIEWS?
“It is because they have all the skillsets and experience but cannot deliver them with CLARITY.”
I was that person who was super nervous and asked a question like-
"Tell me about a situation where you accomplished a complex task"
I used to be all over the place.
And the interviewer would say "I do not understand what you are saying?"
This happened so many times.
After attending 100+ interviews and conducting even more I devised an approach that would help me crack and any interview with confidence.
It is called the 3C approach
✅ Context
✅ Categorize
✅ Conclusion
What are the 3-Cs?
The first thing is you have to set the context, that's the first C, paint the picture of what the problem or the situation is. When they ask questions like, tell me about a situation where there was a complex problem, and how did you solve it? So then you'll paint the picture that this was the problem, set the context. Take people into your story. So that's the first thing.
The second C is categorize. So once you set the problem, or the situation and set the context, the next thing you need to do is you have to answer saying, the first thing I did was, I did this research. The second thing I did was, I scheduled the meeting, the third thing I did was, to see how you're categorizing exactly what he did.
The third C is the conclusion. So I read the results of your actions and quantify them with data and facts.
So for example, coming back to the same question of Tell me about a situation where you solve a complex problem, and what are the results?
So first, we'll set the context saying, Yeah, I was working in this team, it was a banking application, and there was this kind of problem.
Then you categorize it. The first thing I did was I started analyzing what the problem was. The second thing I did was I started talking with other people in my team, the third thing I did was to keep going, and then finally the conclusion.
As a result of my actions. I saved this amount of effort for my team, and this much money for my company. And that is how you appear confident, you appear coherent, and people love many good structured answers in interviews. So follow that 3-C approach.
