How to Become Technical?
So a lot of people have asked me this. “How do you become a technical tester?” And here are four ways I've told people, based on my experience, that could help them become a more technical person. Irrespective whether you're a tester or whatever role you may be.
Here are four ways to do it.
Pair up with a developer. So every sprint when you have a requirement or a story, which has to be developed, pair up with a developer and then see how they code and try to learn from them. And you could also ask them to teach you a different thing during lunch sessions or even after work. So pairing up is a really great strategy to become technical.
Take courses. There are so many free online courses on Coursera, Udemi Kind Academy, and so many free resources on YouTube make use of it. And that will give you some idea about it. The technical language you wanna learn also gives you some idea of what being technical actually looks like.
Volunteer to do technical tasks. Say for example, in your project, all of a sudden, there's a pain point where something is taking a lot of time. Then you volunteer to see how you can fix that issue from a technical standpoint. And again, you don't have to do this alone.
There are a lot of people surrounding you. You can take help from them as well.
Read articles, blogs, um, then network with people, attend technical conferences, because that's a great way not only to learn different things, but also to meet different people who've already gone through the technical path and they could help advise you, guide you, and be your mentors as well.
So those are the four ways. , anyone could get into a more technical path based on my experience.
